Dr Erica Pironti is a Child and Adolescent Neurologist and Psychiatrist mainly focused on neurological diseases genetically determined in children. During her residency at University Hospital of Messina in Italy, she attended a four-month internship as Honorary Researcher and Clinical Fellow in the Houlden Lab and in the NHNN Neurogenetics clinic. Her main interest was next generation exome sequencing analysis and interpretation with Sanger sequencing confirmation in a cohort of Italian children affected by early-onset neurological conditions, such as epilepsy and epileptic encephalopathies. The aim was to define novel syndromic entities, understand the genetic and the mechanism underlying and, eventually, define neurodevelopmental outcomes and disease-specific treatment options.
She now works as a clinician in Child and Adolescent Neurology and Psychiatry Unit at the University Hospital of Foggia in Italy.
